This grant will provide partial support to the GEAR UP College Day program, a partnership between Central Michigan University and Flint Community Schools. GEAR UP is a national college readiness initiative that targets students in grades 7-12 and whose purpose is to increase the number of students who successfully complete a post-secondary degree. By receiving mentoring, tutoring, parent education, and attending campus visits through participation in the GEAR UP program, students are better prepared to enter and complete a college degree program. This grant will also support an evaluation of the GEAR UP College Day program.
