Umtapo Centre builds the leadership capacity of children, the youth, and community leaders to engage in critical dialogue on issues of peace, rights and responsibilities, and citizenship. Past support from Mott enabled Umtapo Centre to train youth in schools on peace and antiracism; set up peace resource centers in schools; establish an alumni association for former participants in its programs; conduct several Peace, Human Rights, and Anti-racism Education training courses for out-of-school youth and community leaders; prepare various promotional materials; produce a documentary on Ubuntu, an African value-based way of life; and convene a national conference on Ubuntu, antiracism, anti-xenophobia, and moral regeneration. This grant will continue to provide general support to Umtapo to implement its peace and antiracism programs.
