This grant will support the National Summer Learning Association to develop summer learning opportunities for young people by ensuring that summer learning is integrated into efforts to redesign systems of teaching and learning. Specifically, this grant will provide technical assistance to communities with an interest and capacity for including summer as a stronger part of a comprehensive, 12-month vision for expanding learning opportunities for young people. To accomplish these objectives, the National Summer Learning Association will engage school systems, the afterschool community, and municipal leadership in reinventing summer school and will support the New Day for Learning demonstration sites and public awareness campaign.
