This repayable grant will provide support to the Foundation for the Uptown Reinvestment Corporation for the acquisition and redevelopment of the former Character Inn in downtown Flint. The 16-story building, originally constructed as a Hyatt Regency hotel, will be converted into a state-of-the-art student residence hall. The Foundation for the Uptown Reinvestment Corporation will provide grant funds to its supported organization, the Uptown Reinvestment Corporation, which intends to utilize the funds to invest in the project.
