The National Wildlife Federation, a national environmental group with a longtime presence in the Great Lakes region, works with partner organizations to help implement the Clean Water Act and related policies throughout the Great Lakes Basin. With previous Mott support, the federation monitored the implementation of water quality standards, promoted wetlands protections, advanced strategies to halt invasive species, and worked to establish sound precedents for sulfide mining decisions in the Lake Superior watershed. With renewed support, the federation will continue these activities while developing strategies for emerging chemicals of concern and engaging in the renegotiation of the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement.
