This grant will provide operating support to the Flint Institute of Arts. Since reopening in September 2006 following a significant renovation and expansion that added galleries and studio space, the museum has seen its attendance continue to grow, exceeding 120,000 visitors annually from Genesee County and several surrounding counties. The institute draws adults and students to the art gallery to view its exceptional permanent collection and special exhibitions, take a variety of classes offered at the art school, participate in numerous educational programs, and attend special events held at the facility. Over the next year, the Flint Institute of Arts will continue to offer diverse exhibitions and programs to inspire, educate, and engage members as well as attract new audiences.
