Direct Action and Research Training Center (DART) was founded in 1982 to develop congregation-based community organizations. There are now 22 metropolitan organizations affiliated with DART in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Florida, Virginia, and Kentucky. Each local organization has its own leaders, staff, and funding base and develops campaigns to win tangible improvements on issues such as education reform, affordable housing investments, and job training programs. Senior staff work with local organizations to provide technical assistance and consultation on membership development, leadership recruitment and training, organizational development, financial stability, and campaign design and implementation.
