Princess Margarita of Romania Foundation - Romania

This grant provides core support to the Princess Margarita of Romania Foundation - Romania, which is one of the leading philanthropic organizations in the developing philanthropic sector in Romania. With oversight by members of the Romanian royal family, the grantee's principal mission is to develop and support projects that improve health care and address special needs of children, youth, and the elderly. During the grant period, the grantee will adopt a new strategic direction for its programs and operations, develop new programs and services, and improve its cooperation with other foundations and nonprofits in Romania. In addition, the grantee will strengthen its organizational capacity and financial stability. The grantee's key achievements to date include strengthening the capacity of over 120 child protection nongovernmental organizations, increasing awareness of institutions and the general public about the rights of the elderly, and promoting income-generating activities in poor communities.
